Celebrity Big Brother Axe to Grind Down More Reality TV?

Celebrity Big Brother is over but at least the last series ended on a high (C4 execs to breathe a sigh of relief!). To our surprise, the final series of CBB has been a brilliant success thanks to its powerhouse of contestants. Among them was Vinnie Jones, Ivana Trump, Stephanie Beecham and Stephen Baldwin and unlike other years, racism and arguments have been non-existent (Channel 4 chiefs to breathe another sigh of relief!).

Despite the success of this year’s show, some critics will be clamouring to get their claws out and cheering that the verbatim of the formula is now dead and buried forever. For publicity agents, the end of Celebrity Big Brother means one less opportunity for their TV hungry clients. As any PR consultant knows, a celebrity client who’s regularly on the box is of great value and opens up a wonderful can of high paying fee opportunities. I wonder how many more celebrity programmes will be swallowed up by cost-cuts and public fall-out with reality TV?

It’s not cheap to make a show like Celebrity Big Brother and with belts tightening, who else could be next for the chop? If we’re to believe what’s been written in the press recently, GMTV is on the verge of a major re-haul. Kate Garraway, Penny Smith and even Andrew Castle must be feeling the noose growing tighter round their necks as speculation mounts. Although GMTV is still clearly popular with viewers, advertising revenue has fallen and budgets are being cut.

Celebrity PR needs reality TV shows to keep their clients topical and earning fees, especially if like Alex Reid, their talents are limited. As digital PR increases, PR agencies are being forced to move with the times and digital TV will soon be the platform that agencies are budding to gain exposure for their clients from.

‘Pitt’-ing Angelina

‘Splits’ may be the word that’s buzzing down Hollywood streets, but don’t get us wrong here-it’s the rumors that Hollywood’s hottest couple Brangelina have planned to part ways. Close associates of the duo, however, negate the assumptions saying that they are very much together and there are no misunderstandings between them regarding Pitt’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. On the contrary, popular celebrity magazines confirm that both are living separately and are fighting a dirty battle for the custody of their six kids. In fact, the magazine is also found quoting that Pitt has approached Jennifer for advice and support. Any guesses what’s in store for us this valentine?

Britney is the Most Popular Celebrity of the Last Decade

Britney Spears is really hot on the web! The 27-year-old pop sensation is conferred the crown of ‘Most Searched Celebrity of the Last Decade’. In addition to her singing and entertaining qualities, perhaps it was her style of living that made her widely popular among the youth. In the race of the “Most Searched Celeb on the Web” Britney has overtaken the Nobel laureate US prez. The decade that started in a “Toxic” note for the American pop star ended in a sweeter note no doubt.

It was her debut album “Baby One More Time” that brought Ms Spears instant fame and success in 1999. Her next video release “Oops!… I Did It Again” gave her the status of a global pop icon. Since then Britney has remained the epicenter of several controversies. During the last ten years of fame she married twice and became a mother of two children.

Possibly it was the pressure of being on the public eye while having a turbulent private life that caused her emotional meltdown. The legal battles over custody of her children also pushed her towards hospitalization and psychiatric treatments. But it’s Spears’ indomitable spirit that brought her back on the track of music. With her latest album ‘The Singles Collection’ in November 2009 Britney made it to the elite list of ‘most powerful celebrities’ with an earning of over 35 million dollars. So, the proverb ‘all is well that ends well’ is true for Britney!

Was MJ Murdered?

A new controversy has surfaced regarding the sudden death of the Pop King. As published by the media a new ‘amended’ version of the post mortem report of Michael Jackson says that the pop star was murdered.
There has always been a controversy over this issue from the beginning. Initially the doctors said he was died of cardiac arrest and the overdose of painkillers might have aggravated breathing trouble. Further investigation dug out the role of the sedatives that MJ took for insomnia. It was reported that Jackson took anesthetic drug propofol before his death. The primary death report that was issued on July 7, 2009 has been amended. Further probe into the matter compelled the medical examiner Christopher Roger to declare the death as “homicide” in the amended report issued on August 31 last year.

What ever the reason might be behind this untimely death, just like the Jackson family who wants “proper investigation and conviction of the person (or persons) responsible for MJ’s death”, we all want the truth to come out in the light soon.

Amy Adams is Expecting

Amy Adams known as the ‘Doubt’ actress is expecting her first child at the end of this year. Adams revealed her wish to return to the industry after having her first child. She is planning to continue her career though she equally respects the duties of a mother. She is expecting the baby with fiance Darren Le Gallo.

The ‘Leap Year’ star insists that “I think I’m just going to try to take it one day at a time. I think that’s probably going to come first and foremost, of course, but hopefully Ill be able to have a career as well.”

She said that her health is good and Darren has been very supportive and she expects him to be a supportive dad-to-be. The couple has not decided any name for the baby and they will probably do that after the birth of the child.

A new member in Bachchan’s League?

Hrithik Roshan is ready to set the silver screen on fire, yet again with his upcoming release ‘Guzaarish’. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, however, is drawing wows from Hrithik fans for a different reason altogether. Hrithik is always known for his dedication and diligence and he has proved it this time too. The situation goes like this-the actor who had a speech disorder was supposed to deliver a five and a half minute monologue in a single take. To make it easier for him, Bhansali divided the dialogue into three segments. Surprisingly, Hrithik did not require any breaks in the middle and delivered the dialogue with the same ease and charisma as on the on-screen. What more, even the hard-to-satisfy Sanjay Leela Bhansali was impressed and congratulated him with a compliment actors would otherwise die for: “You are in Bachchan’s League”. There you go dude!

Jennifer Aniston is Back on TV

Jennifer Aniston is all set for comeback on small screen. The blonde beauty will be starring an Oprah Winfrey late-night chat show programmed specially for the Oprah Winfrey Network, which is to be launched the next year.

Well, what brought the Friends star back to small screen? Reportedly, it is her friendship with comedian Chelsea Handler that inspired her to go for a television talk show of her own.

Once she met Oprah Winfrey, Aniston expressed her wish. And the media mogul did not let go the opportunity of casting Jennifer on her private network show. Aniston will produce as well as star the show along with Oprah. We hope this joint venture works well and bring good fortune for Jennifer, once again!

Madonna Returns to Malawi for Opening School

Madonna flew to Malawi with her four kids – daughter Lourdes, son Rocco and her two adopted Malawian born children David and Mercy. The Pop Queen’s week-long break to Malawi after her break up with husband Guy Ritchie is not a retreat at all rather it is a trip with a busy schedule.

Madonna’s trip to Malawi has various aspects to it including the curtain raiser of her charitable school, Raising Malawi Academy for Girls at Malawi capital Lilongwe. The 51-year-old pop star was excited about the projects her charity Raising Malawi has taken up.

On a more personal note, Madonna wants her 4-year-old Malawian child Mercy to learn her mother tongue during the visit and build a good bonding with her biological father, James Kambewa who was sharply against the adoption.

Jackson’s Third Son?

It has been two months since Jackson’s death and newer stories related to this famous singer are still popping up. The latest news focused on another story. Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson a twelve years kid has claimed that Michael Jackson was his biological father. According to him he is the third son of this pop singer. The documents that were released last week says that Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson has requested a DNA test in favor of his claim as it can prove that he is the biological son of Jackson. According to a family friend of this kid, Ron Newt has approached Joe Jackson even before Michael Jackson’s death. However Joe denied the whole story and asked him to “leave it alone”.

Ellie Greenwich Passed Away

Remember the popular numbers like “Be My Baby”, “Chapel of Love” and “Leader of the Pack”? The co-write of many these pop songs Ellie Greenwich took her last breath on Wednesday, 26.8.09. According to her nieces Jessica Weiner, Greenwich was 68 when she dies. She was admitted to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital a few days before for the treatment of pneumonia. She died in the same hospital. Her niece reported that she died out of heart attack. A member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Ellie Greenwich was considered to be one of the most successful songwriters for pop music.
