Men & Their Gadgets

What is it with men and their gadgets? My bloke just got a DVD recorder and just keeps recording things. I thought the novelty would wear off after a week but it is apparently taking much longer. He’s been transferring all his old videos onto DVD. I was like, who on earth keeps old videos when they don’t even have a VCR? Apparently he does, but it’s broken.

The only good thing about this obsession is that he tapes stuff off cable for me and puts it on a DVD so I can watch it, which is bordering on adorable, I think. Not to gush, but it is quite cute, so the DVD recorder does benefit me as well as him.

I have to admit I am new to this blogging lark, I have a Facebook account and regularly update that but I also wanted to try my hand at blogging as I do what to start my own blog in the future but wanted to practice first. My first passion in jewellery – all types from costume jewellery to high class expensive diamonds and rings. I literally have all sorts of jewellery types and I want to eventually start a blog an write about my passion – I mean that’s what its all about isn’t it? A blog I mean – it’s about writing about what floats your boat – that way you are not only sharing yourself but also giving over handy information as invariably if you are passionate about something you are also an expert in that field and best placed to advise on it – least that’s what I hope. Anyway wish me luck in the blogging arena and I hope it is kind to me – I am looking forward to sharing my wisdom!!

Petit Stilettos are the shoe of choice for the fashion conscious woman

After years of tottering around on stilettos and skyscraper heels women can now give their feet a break and still look stylish. Women can pass on the sore feet and bad backs with their new shoe best friend – the kitten heel or Petit Stiletto as their being dubbed.

According to Vogue’s Sarah Harris the low heal is the latest shoe trend to embrace. She claims that Chloe, Stella McCartney, Marni and Missoni are all pioneering the new heel height and it is a far cry from the kitten heel which was popular ladies shoe styles in the early 1990s. The designers have opted for strappy styles to keep the shoes from looking like a flashback to the kitten heels of 1991 and to update the style and keep it looking fresh.

In fact Ms Harris believes that we “can expect to be impressed” by the new trend. Almost every shop, as well as online shops such as ModainPelle.com, has taken this trend on. And the desire for these shoes is almost hysterical amongst the fashionistas out there.

The designers have gone all out to create wearable and stylish low heel ladies shoes. Chole’s offering takes their shape from a pirate boot and has a wide saddle leather buckled straps which Ms Harris describes as “the new gladiator, ideal to toughen spring’s procession of pretty dresses”. Anyone wanting an evening look should opt for Marni’s bronze and black suede sandals while and Missoni’s boast a wooden sole and Ms Harris advises us to “jump on the bandwagon; wooden soles are everywhere this season”. And for the comfiest option women should opt for the Geisha-inspired low wedges at Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein.

But is it a trend that is set to catch on well Sarah Harris reckons that “once tried, you’ll never want to wear heels again… unless of course, you’re already hankering after Louis Vuitton’s tri-colour crocodile towering court shoes from autumn/winter 2010…”

Meanwhile, the Times is reporting that the flared trouser is making a comeback which they recommend teaming with a kitten heel or the petit stiletto, which is what French Vogue has rechristened the kitten heel. Lisa Armstrong writing in the paper reckons that the low heel looks “good” with the flare-ette as she is dubbing the new flared trousers.
